The Draft, Week 1, and the madness begins…. again, or “This team will never lose again!” -Shoresy.

Over the unbearably long off season, two members of This is Serious Business went to their heavenly home, or hell, I’m not judging. Our West Coast friend Vina Mites, was lost to us this summer. California raised their tax on FFL ownership. 40% to the state for every Win. Too rich for the poor Cali-kid. Godspeed VM, we will all miss the easy “dub”! VaderPug was arrested, charged and found guilty of FFL fuckery. Won’t go into details, to spare the innocent minds of this blogs readership, but let’s just say “black magic, beastiality and even porch pirating” were mentioned. 25 to life was the verdict, but after the Supreme Court saw what he had done to TISB, he was promptly put on a military cargo plane and was last seen headed south. Guantanamo? Venezuela? The Silos in Waco? We may never know the truth.

The draft was held again at the official TISB golf course resort. A place where the beer flowed like wine and FFL brains instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. A little place called Corinth, or north Lewisville, it’s hard to tell which it is. As usual, some made it some did not, but ALL did not pay😂. We should probably do that sometime (I accept Apple Pay). TISB is now a ppr league so a learning curve will probably hit the entire league for a few weeks. Once the sea legs are back we will see who will “ never lose again” and who takes home the “Sacko”!!!

I’ll just leave this here for the beloved readership to peruse…

Let’s get to week 1 in This is Serious Business!!!

Team Pigg v the Big Diesel. Pigg walked out of the draft room and lit a giant Cuban cigar, grinned at the reporters and didn’t say anything (you have to know Trey😏) led by a 100% draft rating and Josh Allen at qb, Pigg squealed into the season with 31 from his leader. 22 from Godwin, 16 for RWhite (that’s a fluke, the Commish is faster than that guy). Big Diesel countered with a terrible 15 from Mahomie, 18 from Breece and Walker and 26 large from Mixon (who’s still not in jail). Looked like an easy W for Pigg, but because the Commish made insane, unsupervised, crazy kicker rules, Moody hit 26 for BD. And, oh yeah, Pigg had the first empty roster spot of the year😭👏🏽 with CMC not playing. Tough loss for the #1 seed, but we play on. BD 137 Pigg 99.

AintReba, after a successful season of NOT winning the Sacko, set her sights on last years Sacko winner Nizzle. A former champion, Nizz has fallen on hard times, FFL wise. Is this the first battle of losers? Or is it redemption year? My bet is the former. Lamar and ARich fought well, DHenry and JTay were a draw. Pacheco and Williams the same. This was a battle of D and the Cowboys hit 22 while the Ravens cried nevermore, nevermore on the way to score 3. 120-99 final. AintReba is undefeated (won’t need to write that sentence ever again).

DFUN vs the Lil d Ceiling Cats. This is what FFL is alllllll about! Dominance. Records from all TISB seasons will show the Cats have never lost to the Commish despite his collusion, mirror leagues, Fantrax changeover and scoring insanity! Will this be the year it all changes? No. 151-102. Brutal beat down. Caleb Williams failed in his first NFL/FFL start, AmonRa was AmonNot and the Kelce regression has started. The Cats had 32 from Kupp, 33 from waiver wire pickup Minn D and 19 from JConner (before his yearly injury). Just another W for the Cats, and one more L for the Commish. Different season, same outcome.

In the Sunday night game, TBIAC made the long drive to Denton to meet Laces Out at Jerry Webb Memorial stadium. Lots of pregame hype for both teams, none of it warranted. Saquon started his new FFL journey by scoring 3 tds and this weeks game was over just as it began. Tyreek had 26 points and one arrest, Evans caught 23 and JGibb ran 17. Laces Out tried their little heart out but just couldn’t keep up with the high flying Captain. Hurts was meh, 16, AJones rum led for 18 and AJ Brown grabbed 22. But, Williams ran for 3 entire points, Fergie had 4 before leaving the game with an injury, and Drake London, FFL preseason all star with his new and improved QB, new head coach, new coordinator…. same result. 3.5 points. Aubrey was the lone high spot for the tiny dancers, kicking in 21 even after getting robbed of his 72yard attempt! Final score 135-117. Good game, bad matchup for the LO team.

Week one is over, 4 happy owners, 4 angry owners. Who will be the first to make a trade (not Steph)? Who will play a rookie QB in his first ever nfl game (felix). When will Nizzle sell his team for an obscene profit and start his own league? Can Trey make it through hunting season and FFL season at the same time (probably not). Soooo many questions, many many weeks to find the answers. Good night and good luck! Welcome back to This is Serios Business season 27 (ish)!!!!
