Week 3… or “fight me, see what happens-Shoresy”

Week 3 is done and it was a doozie. Last second wins and losses, jubilation and sadness. Some continue to climb the FFL mountain, others have stumbled and one took a flying header off of Mt Sacko (you only get one tiny guess😂). What we do know is that every season has its challenges. Some guys fall off, some emerge, some just suck (Cowboys). But we carry on, making changes, waivers, trades (🤣). The FFL gods are fickle and if you don’t believe this humble sports journalist than look at this-

It was a great week of matchups and we are all looking forward to week 4 (maybe not everyone). But this is the week 3 recap for TISB, so let’s see who was ready for a fight and see what happened!!!

.

AintReba, undefeated (still the hardest words ever written) took on TBIAC, also undefeated. Ali vs Frazier, McEnroe vs Connor, Brady vs Manning, Caitlyn vs Angel…it was NOT. 167-114. AintReba is running wild! Highest point total and un-lossed. Lamar 25, DHenry 30, Kmet 25, Metcalf 20 and on and on and on. The Capt tried to hang in with the diminutive FFL heavyweight but Evans 7, Hill 5 (suffering from no “Hawk” Tua) and McBrides 5 made the judges tally as one sided as the score. Can this continue? Will AintReba go undefeated and set the single season scoring record (unofficial records say the Cats scored 49,322 points in 2019), or return to her natural level at the bottom of the league? We shall see…

.
Big D took on the fighting Nizzles at the UPS Bowl in downtown Lewisville (otherwise known as the Brown Bowl). Two formidable (?) opponents fighting for the right to lose in the first round of the playoffs! This should be mildly interesting to watch! It wasn’t. 132-103. ARich looks like a bust, Andrew’s may be cooked (like Kelce) and Pittman has to try to catch flying ducks from ARich. The unbreakable Tucker looks broke and the BAL D looks like the ‘Boys. Diesel’s team protected Brown Town with 27 from Goedert (who according to this writers wife, looks like the Geico Caveman). Mahomie only tossed for 16 but Breece and Hubbard (??) totaled 45. Another beat-down for the high rolling Highland Park squad!
.

And now to the interesting games of the week! In our first Faaaammmmiiilllyyy Feeeeeuuuudddd of the season, DFUN traveled all the way north to the frozen tundra of Pigg stadium. These two reallllly hate each other and it showed on Sunday and even more on MNF! Dak tossed 29 in another embarrassing loss, Montgomery 21, JJeff 20, Amon 20 and rookie sensation Nabers 28 , put DFUN in the lead. Pigg fired back with 20 from Moss, Harris stumbled and rumbled for 13, Cooper snagged 27 and 26 combined from Butker and PHI. Monday morning DFUN 145 Pigg 122. Then Josh Allen took the field on MNF and ran wild, scoring 30.92. 152-145 final. Heartbreaking loss for DFUN and redemption for Pigg! Both are now in family counseling (doesn’t look good). Side note- how in the world did DFUN get JJeff, Amon and Nabers? And still lose?? Amazing…

.
And in this weeks finale, the winless Laces Out hosted the Cats at her tiny lil stadium. The Cats were looking to bounce back from an embarrassing loss to Nizzle last week and LO was fighting for her first win of this season. Both QBs were disappointing, Conner and Steven’s both failed their coaches. then Bijan ran for 13 for the Cats, but AJones rumbled for 25. Cats answered with 29 from Rice and 14 from Wilson. LO finished Sunday with London grabbing 18. So on to Monday night. Score 106-99 with Kincaid and Etienne for the league’s favorite team, the Cats, and 97 for lowly low LO and Jamar Chase. Game over. Not even close. Etienne gets 12 and Kincaid 13 totaling 131. Chase starts catching every single pass, running and jumping and frolicking (maybe not frolicking) around the field. Bengals are down, time running out and they get one more chance and LO is ALIVE! 8 plays, 3 in the end zone….none to Chase. Cats win by 3.5. Hallelujah! (At least for the sweet sweet kittens of the ceiling) LO loses a tough one and remains un-winned , Cats go above .500 for the first time this year.

So week 3 is in the books! Some great, last second, heartbreaking, jouful moments were had. More to come for sure. AintReba is on top at 3-0, TBIAC, CCats and BD at 2-1, DFUN, Nizz, Pigg are 1-2. Plenty of time to fight and claw for that “one inch”, that last push, that playoff run. Lots of FFL to be played. Injuries and busts and old age (Andrew’s) and TSwift (Kelce) and concussions and…… Welcome to This Is Serious Business!!!

Roll credits….

More credits…

LO is 0-3

The end.

Till next week…

Week 2 or… “Are you hurt or are you injured?”-Shoresy

Wow what a week. Wins and losses and losses and losses, and surprises! Kupp, CMC, Deebo, Tua, Puka etc all out or D or IR. Did you draft for this massive loss of talent? Are you savvy enough to pick up the next Gamechanger? Did you know anyone got injured? It’s a fair question😂. Did you know Henry, Gesicki and Ching Okonkwo were top 10 TEs? How about Dobbins, Mason and Stevenson as top 4 RBs. WR is a little easier- Collin’s, Godwin, JWilliams and Nabers are your leaders. Not exactly how the draft went but that is how FFL go! Lots of curveballs this week but the strong will survive (AintReba), and the weak will play for the ultimate trophy in all of make believe sports…”The Sacko!!!!! (Early prediction is Nizzle fighting for back-to-back last place finishes vs ). Sorry, the polls say it’s just Nizzle. No one else in the early results. Ok let’s get to the Week 2 recap in THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS (crowd roars)!!!!

Week 2 saw DFUN bounce back from the horrific loss in game one (to the Cats) by crushing the 49er loving Big Diesel 146-121. Achane and Breece canceled out each other, neither Dak or Mahomey were any good, Adams and JJeff were equal but Aiyuk (guess who drafted a 49er) was outscored by Amon 22-8. BD will fall to 1-1 while DFUN wins his last game of the season.

Upset of the week, Cats drive to Highland Park to play in Jerry Jones private backyard football stadium. It only seats 29,000 fans so we apologize to anyone not able to get tickets. Vegas spread was Cats-19, and Kyler came out swinging with 28 followed by Conor at 19, Rashee 18 and Bijon 16. But Kupp only had 7, an injury and an unknown future. Awesome. Nizzle saw the opening and skittered through, getting past terrible QB play and watching Harrison Jr blow it up! CeDe 19 and a 13 point swing at K/DEF was enough to send the Cats slinking back to the Suburban dumpster fire in which they dwell.

In our first Cat Fight of the year, these two strong, proud brave females assigned at birth went at it! It didn’t take long. 157-96. Everyone AintReba played went off like Karen on the Kohls manager over a mislabeled scarf. Cook 28, Metcalf 28, Kittle 20 and the Boys DEF 0 (🤣). Poor Laces Out swung her tiny fists of fury, but to no FFL avail. Chase continues to disappoint with 7, AJones 9 and Waddle 8 ( most likely since Tua got concussed). AintReba takes home the single red rose and the #1 spot overall (after only 2 games).

And in the nightcap… TBIAC played (wrong word) destroyed Pigg 157-74. Just a brutal day for our Yankee friend. Josh Allen only 9, Coleman 0, Coop 4, you see where this is going. On TBIAC, Saquon 17, Gibbs 17, McBride 18 and the resurgent Kamara 44 big ones! And just to rub dirt in this Hatfield & McCoy type feud, Fairbairn kicks for 20 and 12 from the CLE D. Bad day for Pigg, dominate W for the undefeated TBIAC.

Week 2 is in the books! 2 teams are unbeaten, 4 are halfsies and 2 are un-winned. It’s a long season with more injuries and breakouts and disappointments (Cowboys) to come. Strap in and get ready for the ride!!

The Draft, Week 1, and the madness begins…. again, or “This team will never lose again!” -Shoresy.

Over the unbearably long off season, two members of This is Serious Business went to their heavenly home, or hell, I’m not judging. Our West Coast friend Vina Mites, was lost to us this summer. California raised their tax on FFL ownership. 40% to the state for every Win. Too rich for the poor Cali-kid. Godspeed VM, we will all miss the easy “dub”! VaderPug was arrested, charged and found guilty of FFL fuckery. Won’t go into details, to spare the innocent minds of this blogs readership, but let’s just say “black magic, beastiality and even porch pirating” were mentioned. 25 to life was the verdict, but after the Supreme Court saw what he had done to TISB, he was promptly put on a military cargo plane and was last seen headed south. Guantanamo? Venezuela? The Silos in Waco? We may never know the truth.

The draft was held again at the official TISB golf course resort. A place where the beer flowed like wine and FFL brains instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. A little place called Corinth, or north Lewisville, it’s hard to tell which it is. As usual, some made it some did not, but ALL did not pay😂. We should probably do that sometime (I accept Apple Pay). TISB is now a ppr league so a learning curve will probably hit the entire league for a few weeks. Once the sea legs are back we will see who will “ never lose again” and who takes home the “Sacko”!!!

I’ll just leave this here for the beloved readership to peruse…

Let’s get to week 1 in This is Serious Business!!!

Team Pigg v the Big Diesel. Pigg walked out of the draft room and lit a giant Cuban cigar, grinned at the reporters and didn’t say anything (you have to know Trey😏) led by a 100% draft rating and Josh Allen at qb, Pigg squealed into the season with 31 from his leader. 22 from Godwin, 16 for RWhite (that’s a fluke, the Commish is faster than that guy). Big Diesel countered with a terrible 15 from Mahomie, 18 from Breece and Walker and 26 large from Mixon (who’s still not in jail). Looked like an easy W for Pigg, but because the Commish made insane, unsupervised, crazy kicker rules, Moody hit 26 for BD. And, oh yeah, Pigg had the first empty roster spot of the year😭👏🏽 with CMC not playing. Tough loss for the #1 seed, but we play on. BD 137 Pigg 99.

AintReba, after a successful season of NOT winning the Sacko, set her sights on last years Sacko winner Nizzle. A former champion, Nizz has fallen on hard times, FFL wise. Is this the first battle of losers? Or is it redemption year? My bet is the former. Lamar and ARich fought well, DHenry and JTay were a draw. Pacheco and Williams the same. This was a battle of D and the Cowboys hit 22 while the Ravens cried nevermore, nevermore on the way to score 3. 120-99 final. AintReba is undefeated (won’t need to write that sentence ever again).

DFUN vs the Lil d Ceiling Cats. This is what FFL is alllllll about! Dominance. Records from all TISB seasons will show the Cats have never lost to the Commish despite his collusion, mirror leagues, Fantrax changeover and scoring insanity! Will this be the year it all changes? No. 151-102. Brutal beat down. Caleb Williams failed in his first NFL/FFL start, AmonRa was AmonNot and the Kelce regression has started. The Cats had 32 from Kupp, 33 from waiver wire pickup Minn D and 19 from JConner (before his yearly injury). Just another W for the Cats, and one more L for the Commish. Different season, same outcome.

In the Sunday night game, TBIAC made the long drive to Denton to meet Laces Out at Jerry Webb Memorial stadium. Lots of pregame hype for both teams, none of it warranted. Saquon started his new FFL journey by scoring 3 tds and this weeks game was over just as it began. Tyreek had 26 points and one arrest, Evans caught 23 and JGibb ran 17. Laces Out tried their little heart out but just couldn’t keep up with the high flying Captain. Hurts was meh, 16, AJones rum led for 18 and AJ Brown grabbed 22. But, Williams ran for 3 entire points, Fergie had 4 before leaving the game with an injury, and Drake London, FFL preseason all star with his new and improved QB, new head coach, new coordinator…. same result. 3.5 points. Aubrey was the lone high spot for the tiny dancers, kicking in 21 even after getting robbed of his 72yard attempt! Final score 135-117. Good game, bad matchup for the LO team.

Week one is over, 4 happy owners, 4 angry owners. Who will be the first to make a trade (not Steph)? Who will play a rookie QB in his first ever nfl game (felix). When will Nizzle sell his team for an obscene profit and start his own league? Can Trey make it through hunting season and FFL season at the same time (probably not). Soooo many questions, many many weeks to find the answers. Good night and good luck! Welcome back to This is Serios Business season 27 (ish)!!!!
