Week 2 or “I don’t think of all the (FFL) misery but of the beauty (of FFL) that still remains“ – Anne Frank (ish)

We as a community have had a terribly trying weekend filled with physical and scoreboard losses. Some teams (and players) will bounce back, some are done for the season. Saquon Barkley done for the year after that idiot Jason Garret called the “blow out his knee” play. MCCaffrey out 4-6 weeks, ankle. Nick Bosa, sorry Big Diesel, ACL out for the year. Garoppolo, sorry Big Diesel, ankle, probable. Raheem Mostert MCL, sorry Big Diesel. Drew Lock, shoulder. No one was going to pick him up but his backup is LaTech alum Jeff Driskell (shameless plug). Courtland Sutton, knee, donzo. Many, many injuries this week, as will happen in the FFL. Saquon was obviously an enormous loss, but he was rostered (not owned) by IamBetter so it won’t affect the championship 😘. MCCaffrey’s injury will probably put the Commish back to the Sacko Bowl, as usual. And all the 49ers injuries will put Big Diesel in an early grave. This won’t be the end of injuries or losses or sadness. Week 2 is in the books, hopefully we will see week 3!

In the “not” Game of the Week, IamBetter wins 71-57. Booooooooooooring. Saquon out, Big Ben 18, Amari 10, Hayden Hurst 13 and Y. Koo, kicker, with 17. As DSVP knows, when your K is the highest scorer, it ain’t good. Luckily he was second in points and the newbie takes her first W of the year. Team Biz improves from week 1 upping his score from 46 to 57. (Turned down a trade for a QB who scored 33 this week, just sayin). Miles Sanders had a nice game with 16 and DJ Moore caught 12 from “the Minshew”. Biz gets the trophy for the first inactive player to be started, J White 0. Nothing else to note, both teams would have been defeated by every other team in “This is Serious Business”

-side note. Waiver wire pickup of the the week by IamBetter in Jonnu Smith, 20 pts, unfortunately watched the game from the bench.

TBIAC v New Tanner. Good game from both teams but New Tanner takes the W behind Dak and Zeke, with an assist from J Connor, back from injury, and Butkers 8 58 yd field goals (at least it felt like 8). TBIAC had another great game from Russ, Chubb and Gordon, but missed out on Kareem Hunt’s 21 and Fournette’s 23 while they sat on the bench. Hunter Henry at TE snagged 8, but Mike Gesicki put up 19. Too bad he was traded away before Sunday, for the Chiefs D, who started, and scored -1. That has to hurt. Two strong teams, good game, no major injuries this week.

103-72, Team Grider falls overboard this week. The Commish rode on the back of the burly, agile TE Tyler Higbee and his 23 points. Ingram 13, Pit D 13 and Hopkins 12 helped along the way. Brady threw for just 8 sad points (DFUN turned down a trade for a QB that scored 33 this week, just sayin). Grider responded to the loss by firing everyone a t his FFL mansion, groundskeeper included. Next week you can expect his new group of NASA/ESPN/FFL/Sally Beauty experts to put together a winning team. Or not.

In one of 2 MNF Showdowns of the week, Big Diesel squeaks by the Cats 110-106. Rrrraaaawwwwddddjjjjjaaaass 18, OBJ 13, waiver wire pick up (from the Cats) Fant 13 and a surprising D. Montgomery sighting, scoring 18. The Cats continue to dominate in QB play, Allen 33, Ridley at WR 22 and the Bal D 15. The 2 RBs combined for only 15 and Thielen disappeared, only grabbing 3. Most FFL experts believe this to be the end of the Cats overwhelming dominance ( “Most FFL experts= DSVP”), while the rest agree it was an off week and that Big Diesel came to play. In the ‘Rona year 2020 anything can happen. Our thought and prayers all go out to Diesel for his many 49ers injuries this week. Stay strong Diesel, stay strong.

And the finale, DSVP v Pigg. Team Pigg who’s been voted best trade partner by the Cats and overwhelmingly liked by all FFLers vs DSVP who was voted by Bill, a commentor, to suck.

Well… Bill is not happy tonight, DSVP wins 124-110. Mattey Ice tied Mahomie with 27. Jones outscore Kamara 40-28. Taylor, took over after injury, tied Mostert, injured. but the Pugs WRs outscored Pigg’s 23-3 and even J Tucker’s 16 couldn’t make up for a Ten D 0 and Michel 1. Big win for Chief Dawgs, heartbreaking loss for Pigg. 2-0 ties the Commish for top of the East division, while the dumpster fire West Division is all tied at 1-1 except Biz, who’s 0-12 somehow.

Tough week 2 on the injury front. Improvise, adapt, and overcome is what the FFL is all about. There are a few players on the waiver wire for some, trade possibilities for others (if they are smart enough to take them) and terrible, terrible sadness for most! Keep your heads up, get the team motivated and let’s make week 3 even better. And one more thing, always dress for success!!
